Sho Madjozi has set the bar for local female artists very high after becoming the first South African female artist to win a BET Award.
She broke the record at the just ended BET Awards that was held in Los Angeles. Madjozi won the Best New International Act award.
“My story is a testimony that you can be from any village in any forgotten part of the world and still be a superstar .
“And for the girls who come from where I come from which is Limpopo, I just want to say you do not have to change who you are”, she said while accepting her award.
The Huku hit maker who is well known for her colorful outfits, Xitsonga lyrics and dance moves was nominated together with Headie One (United Kingdom), Jokair (France), Nesly (France), Octavian (United Kingdom) and Teniola Apata (Nigeria).
The BET Award comes barely a month after Madjozi bagged the New comer of the year and the Female artist of the year awards at the South African Music Awards (SAMA25).
