Veteran South African actress Nomhle Nkonyeni dies
Nomhle Nkonyeni who is well known for her role in etv soapie Scandal as Lulama Langa passed away early Wednesday morning.
She also featured in Jahmil Qubeka’s Sew the winter to my skin, and Igazi, Gaz’lam, Zero Tolerance, and DSTV’s Tsha Tsha and Home Affairs.
Earlier this year, Nkonyeni was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver, a prestigious honor by the President for excellence in the fields of arts, culture, literature, music, journalism and sport.
The 77 year old actress also received a Lifetime Achievement award for her contribution in the theatre space and has a street named after her in her hometown in New Brighton.
Tributes have been pouring in from fans and co-workers since her nephew, Vusi Manapha confirmed her death.
Indeed the South African Arts and Entertainment industry has lost a legend.
