African artists are ungrateful…
Some of Africa’s best entertainers have been tagged as ungrateful by fans. Despite achieving a record breaking achievement of becoming the first Nigerian artist to reach over a hundred million views on YouTube musician Davido, real name David Adeleke posted a video claiming that people do not support him.
According to the star, he doesn’t get the much deserved support because his father is rich.
“I have been in this industry for 7 years and nobody supports me, it’s just hate because my father has money”, he lamented.
Much to everyone’s surprise, Davido’s latest hit single Blow my mind that features Chris Brown garnered a record breaking 2 million views in 24 hours.
As if that was not enough, South African singer Cassper Nyovest was also dragged by fans after wishing that he was Nigerian because Nigerians support their artists better than South Africans.
In a Twitter post, the Move for me hit maker said, “Won’t even lie, I wish I was from Nigeria too. The love they have for their own artists, the way they celebrate their culture, 90% local content on radio and TV, the way they celebrate their music no matter where they go in the world, the unity within their industry. A DREAM!”
Cassper’s fans felt betrayed and they labeled the superstar as ungrateful.
“Stop talking like South Africans don’t fill stadiums for you Cassper, be grateful & respectful please & thank you”. Tweeted one South African.
Another unhappy fan also commented that, “Cassper is ungrateful after all SA fans have done to build his Fill Up and brand. Just buy a ticket bro, take first flight to Nigeria. He must also host his next fill up in Lagos.”
