Nasty C tops the 2019 AFRIMA nominations list
The AFRIMA has released the list of this year’s nominees and South Africa’s Nasty C is leading the pack with 9 nominations. Following him closely behind is Nigeria’s Davido with 6 nominations who is also followed by his fellow countryman, the African giant, Burna Boy who garnered 5 nominations.
South African rapper Nasty C of the SMA fame was nominated in the following categories, Best male artiste in Southern Africa, Artiste of the year in Africa, Song of the year in Africa, Best African rapper/ lyricist, Producer of the year, Best artiste, duo or group in African Hip-hop, Best African Collaboration, Best artiste, duo or group in African RnB and Soul and Songwriter of the year in Africa.
Following right behind is Nigerian award winning artiste, Davido who got nominated for Best male artiste in West Africa, Artiste of the year in Africa, Song of the year in Africa, African fans’ favorite , Best artiste, duo or group in African collaboration for his hit single Blow my mind featuring Chris Brown.
On third place is the African giant, Burna boy with 5 nominations in the following categories, Best male Artiste in Western Africa, Album of the year, Artiste of the year in Africa, Song of the year in Africa, Best African collaboration with Killin dem featuring Zlatan.
Other artists who managed to get more than two nominations include Tanzanian Bongo flava artist, Diamond Platnumz who was nominated in the following categories; Best male artiste in Eastern Africa, Artiste of the year in Africa, Best artist, duo or group in African Pop and best African dance or choreography among others.
Public voting commences on the first of September and fans are urged to vote for their favorites. Nigeria has the highest number of nominations followed by South Africa. The main event has been penciled for the 20th to the 23rd of November 2019.
