South African Artists to boycott Africa Unite Concert because of Burna Boy
It looks like the beef between South African rapper AKA and Nigerian superstar Burna boy is far from over.
South African artists who were scheduled to perform alongside the African giant Burna Boy at the upcoming Africa Unite Concert scheduled for the 23rd and the 24th of November in Johannesburg and Cape Town respectively have reportedly refused to share the same stage with him.
In an interview with a local broadcaster, the leader of an organization that is advocating for Burna Boy to not come and perform in South Africa the Tswane Youth Collective Katlego Malatji said the Nigerian superstar was spreading lies about South Africa and he also threatened local artists.
“He has never apologized he spread a lot of false information about a situation in South Africa which exacerbated the situation and he threatened local artists.” Said Malatji.
The Ye hitmaker is being crucified for the tweets that he posted on his official Twitter page during the xenophobic attacks in September this year.
In the tweet, Burna Boy said that he will never set foot in South Africa.
The Tswane Collective Group also wrote an open letter to South Africa’s minister of Arts pointing out why Burna Boy must not be allowed to perform in the country.
